My Own Personal Superbowl

Being the girl I am, the zenith of awards season – Oscar night – is my own personal Superbowl. The drinks are flowing and the snacks are out. My breath is baited to see who will win, who will disappoint, and who will never live down their fashion shame. Here’s a short highlight reel of the plays so far  (bear with me for the cheesy football analogies)!

Unfortunately, these passes fell a couple yards short.

Viola Davis, Jessica Chastain, Jennifer Lopez

Players destined for greatness

Michelle Williams, Octavia Spencer, Rose Byrne

Allusions of grandeur

Emma Stone, Glenn Close, and Stacy Kiebler

And my Superbowl MVPs are…

In forever classic black and white… Angelina and Gwyneth.

The Cast of a New Hollywood

One of the best parts of Spring movie awards season is seeing which fresh faces continue to cause a stir on the red carpet. Of course we can always count on reigning royalty like Angie + Brad, George Clooney, Meryl Steep, and others. But it’s the newcomers that keep things interesting by taking risks and showing us that maybe old dogs do need to learn some new tricks.

The Help‘s Emma Stone, Octavia Spencer, Viola Davis and Jessica Chastain

Emily Blunt and John Krasinski

Glee‘s Lea Michele, Naya Rivera and Jayma Mays

Michelle Williams (not quite a newcomer, but still a fresh face!), Amber Heard, Kaley Cuoco

Rose Byrne

Modern Family‘s Julie Bowen, Ariel Winter, Sarah Hyland and Sofia Vergara

Birds of Paradise

With winter thawing out and awards season in full swing, there’s nothing better than living vicariously through our favorite celebrities. This year’s Golden Globes felt somewhat like the flock returning home after a seasonal migration; almost every star of the big and small screens made a noteworthy appearance – some shaking their tail feathers more than others.

Which breed of Hollywood birds do you identify with?

The Swans: graceful and elegant, they seem to glide across the red carpet

Kate Beckinsale, Charlize Theron, Kate Winslet

The Crows: mysteriously seductive and offbeat

Evan Rachel Wood, Madonna, Rooney Mara

The Canaries: singing in their arrivals on the scene

Emily Blunt, Paula Patton

The Ducks: endearing  and quirky

Kristen Wiig, Emma Stone, Tina Fey

The Bluejays: quiet, curious and intelligent

Michelle Williams, Helen Mirren, Tilda Swinton, Jodie Foster

The Rockin’ Robins: BUH. BAM.

Reese Witherspoon, Sofia Vergara, Salma Hayek, Nicole Kidman

The Lovebirds: oh-so-stately Hollywood royalty shows us how love is done

Angelina & Brad, George & Stacy, Natalie & Benjamin

And where in the hell did these celebs go?

Ryan Gosling, Katie Holmes & Tom Cruise, Sandra Bullock,

Scarlett Johansson, Eva Longoria, Halle Berry, Anne Hathaway
